I was thinking about this sentence and an idea just crossed my mind. Would you be interested in sponsoring the educational needs of the children at our School in Nandyala? [Indira]""

It was when we, FAHC Trustees, were looking around to add another batch of 14 children that we received an very timely email from Indira Singari introducing Swami Vivekananda Vidhyalaya at Nandyal, Andhrapradesh, India.  Nandyala is in Kurnool district in AP and is about 280 km south of Hyderabad and about 400 km north of Chennai. You can find more about the Swami School here.  A few more emails and telephonic talks with Indira's husband Vijay Singari made the ball rolling quickly.  Ten children were identified from the school.  Consent was taken from their parents.  In Vijay Singari's own words, "I have selected these children from our school at Nandyala. We see these children everyday and understand their struggle to get minimum necessities. All these children could use any available help and I would greatly appreciate you supporting them."

There was no second thought. To identify a trustworthy and committed FAHC Nandyal Chapter coordinator was the next job in hand.  Vijay confirmed that his father, Sri. Singari Venkata Subbaiah, who is also a trustee of the Nandyala School, would work as the unit coordinator.  A few more emails and telephonic calls, Sri. Subbaiah traveled to FAHC headquarters location Nanniode/Pattenchery in Palakkad district, Kerala and personally met all FAHC children and team Trustees.  He also participated in the monthly activities.  Things started to come together.

During Jan 2008 Republic Day weekend, FAHC Chairperson Vijayasekharan master and FAHC Chittur Chapter team (Vipin/Sivaraman/Jayakrishnan/Manoj) and FAHC Managing Trustee VK Narayanan with his family from Nagpur visited Nandyal.  The FAHC Nandyal Chapter inauguration event was coordinated by Shri. Subbaiyah and Kiran Singari, Principal of Vivekananda School.  Mr. Subbaiyah has assumed the role of FAHC Nandyal Chapter coordinator.  The meeting was enjoyable and it was heartening to be reassured about the warm feelings, the new coordinator Shri. Subbaiyah have for FAHC. We had wide-ranging discussions during the event.  In the evening, the FAHC Nandyal Chapter was officially inaugurated by Vijayasekharan master and began its first activity by distributing the monthly feeding kits to the familes of those 10 children (one child was absent for the group picture; we will soon get more clearer picture).

FAHC Nandyala unit is providing essential groceries and food grains every month since January 2008 to the families of a total of ten children. The children are also getting good education at Swami Vivekananda Vidhyalaya via the scholarship program that Vijay Singari and Indira Singari sponsor.  The plan is to support the children until they finish their high school education.

FAHC Trustees wholeheartedly thank the team of FAHC supporters spread worldwide, chapter coordinators, and well-wishers who have provided immense support to make this achievement possible.  It was a great learning experience.
